Loudon County: A Short Drive To The Nation’s Capitol

June 12th, 2012

Loudon County is located between 28 and 56 miles from Washington D.C. Residents and visitors to the county benefit from multiple methods of transportation into the nation’s capital. The two major roads that connect Loudon County to the inner city are Route 7, also known as Leesburg Pike, and Route 50, also named Lee Jackson Memorial Highway. Area dwellers seeking to exercise while heading toward the city often make use of a paved and wooded two-lane pathway called the W&OD trail. Its route runs parallel to Leesburg Pike, and extends to just outside the District of Columbia.Check out this link href=’http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2012/may/21/watch-for-i-40-lane-closure-today-in-loudon/?partner=RSS’>here.

Drivers who seek to avoid rush hour traffic have the added convenience of being able to park their vehicles or bicycles along the D.C. Metro Orange Line. Metro train transportation provides a less stressful, and often faster ride into the city during rush hours. The Silver Line is scheduled to provide an additional method of passage to area travelers. It will also offer commuters another means to get to Dulles International Airport; one of two serving the nation’s capital. People who prefer automotive transportation have the option of using an exclusive airport access road that expedites travel time to and from the city.
